Job Responsibilities:




JOB SUMMARY:



The HR Intern will assist with talent acquisition, talent development, benefits, payroll, employee life cycle, file integrity, and other administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the Human Resources Department. This full-time summer position provides hands-on experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.


Supporting a diverse workforce, this role requires bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English to ensure effective communication and accessibility of HR services. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, action-driven problem solvers with strong verbal and written communication skills.



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:





  • Maintain and update confidential employee records with accuracy and discretion.

  • Support the pre-employment and onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires.

  • Assist employees on a day-to-day basis with benefit-related inquiries and issue resolution.

  • Audit departmental processes and recommend efficiency improvements.

  • Translate information and communications for Spanish-speaking employees to enhance accessibility.

  • Assist in the coordination of training programs, professional development initiatives and employee recognition programs.

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding employment verifications, employee data changes, and job openings.

  • Maintain a strong presence within the workforce by holding office hours and occasionally working split shifts.

  • Assist in planning and coordinating employee engagement events.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

  • Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.




REQUIREMENTS:





  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university, majoring in Business, Human Resources, Communications, Organizational Development, or a related field. Junior or Senior status preferred. Preference given to students attending a Michigan-based institution.

  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality, accurate work.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Understanding of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required, with strong verbal and written communication skills.




WORK ENVIRONMENT
:





  • Office Environment: 90%

  • Plant Environment: 10%

  • The employee must be able to tolerate sitting for extended periods of time as well as able to walk to and from various locations 25-30% of work day.

  • Occasional reaching above and below waist height and above shoulder height occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing 2-15 lbs.

  • Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse on average of 8 hours per workday.

  • While working in the Plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.

  • This role operates primarily in an office environment within a manufacturing organization. Occasional travel may be required for various errands.
