Summary: At S.P. Richards, the Supply Chain team is pivotal in aligning purchasing operations with merchandising strategies to enhance sales and inventory efficiency. The Buyer is responsible for developing and implementing inventory strategies in collaboration with merchandising and operations teams to ensure optimal stock levels and support our overarching business objectives. This person lets data drive decision-making, challenges the status quo, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

 

Location: Smyrna, GA (Near Battery Center) 

Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Others may be assigned) 

  • Creating purchase orders to facilitate the timely replenishment to SPR’s nationwide DC network
  • Communicating with both vendors and SPR DCs to ensure smooth flow of information and goods
  • Working to ensure the highest service levels (fill rates) to our customers within inventory targets
  • Meeting or exceeding inventory turn goals
  • Monitoring vendor performance (fill rate and on-time delivery) and taking corrective action where necessary
  • Coordinating returns to the vendors for damaged and discontinued merchandise
  • Monitoring inventory at all assigned locations and recommending transfers as appropriate to reduce/prevent overstock
  • Reviewing missed demand and adjusting inventory to capture future sales
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and advanced in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be familiar with running and adjusting SQL queries
  • Exceptional ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Strong communication skills across the organization
  • Well organized and detail oriented

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years in inventory planning, demand forecasting, or supply chain analytics, with a proven track record of driving results
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to document business processes and procedures.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, merchants, customers, operations, and sales. 

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, performance over time, and cubic volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Organizational Skills:

Must be detail oriented and exceptional in organization techniques.  Must be self-motivated, with ability to set and achieve goals, and set priorities of multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make sound business process decisions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
