Extrusion and Facilities Supervisor at Erbe Medical, LLC in Tempe, Arizona

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities

Responsible for managing facilities planning, maintenance and custodial operations. Supervises and coordinates the activities of mechanics, installers, and repairers. Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, security etc. Manages a group of vendors in the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Will oversee contractors for facilities renovation project entailing, HVAC, electrical, production floor arrangement, etc.


  • Oversee day-to-day extrusion operations, ensuring robust quality of output.

  • Supervise and support extrusion technicians and machine operators, providing training, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.

  • Ensure efficient operation of extrusion equipment through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with external vendors or contractors as needed.

  • Oversee building and grounds maintenance.

  • Ensure the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and procedures.

  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections.

  • Check completed work by vendors and contractors.

  • Recommend maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications.

  • Manage machinery related items for extrusion.

  • Conduct and document periodic inspections to maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to improve processes, reduce downtime, and ensure consistent product output.

  • Review service contracts (as applicable) and manage relationships with service providers or contractors for specialized machine repairs.

  • Maintain accurate documentation (work orders, preventive maintenance logs, etc.) related to both extrusion operations and facility improvements.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, analyzing production data and implementing changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Contribute to the maintenance of an effective quality system, consistent with United States FDA regulation and the ISO 13485 quality system standard.

  • All other duties as assigned by direct manager.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has direct supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment


  • This position operates in both an office environment (for administrative tasks) and a manufacturing environment (polymers floor).

  • Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers will be used.

  • The manufacturing environment includes moving machinery, noise, and industrial equipment. Appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required.

 

Physical Demands


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; stoop; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Lifting or carrying up to (20–50) pounds may be required, in alignment with organizational guidelines.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 4:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This position may require minimal travel (e.g., between company sites or for vendor visits), as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience


  • 5-9 years of experience in extrusion, manufacturing, or facility maintenance roles.

  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., medical device, pharma) beneficial.

  • JDE/ERP experience required.

Position Requirements


  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills for extrusion machinery.

  • Knowledge of facility systems (electrical, HVAC, etc.) is a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex information at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and/or ERP systems; familiarity with manufacturing documentation.

  • Must maintain confidentiality and handle proprietary information appropriately. Ability to remain flexible and open to change within a fluid global industry.
