Role reports to: Manager, Baby R&D
Location: Summit, NJ Kenvue is currently in the process of moving its Global Headquarters from Skillman, NJ to Summit, NJ. This role is based in Skillman, NJ until mid Q2 2026 but there may be a period of time during the transition that you must report to Summit, NJ.
Travel %: Up to 10% travel both Domestic and International Travel
Pay: $68,000 to $109,825
What will you do:
The Scientist, Baby R&D will work closely with their manager to lead and devlelop new regional and/or global formulations and processes linked to the Baby brand strategy and pipeline, implement commercial innovation (regional rollouts), execute deliverables for regional and global projects, and collaborate with cross functional partners to ensure all timeline deliverables are met. They will also partner closely with all functions responsible during the product design, development, & commercialization phases to help understand and assess risk with the intention of bringing solutions to technical challenges that ensure successful product launches.
The Scientist, Baby R&D is responsible for:
Develop technical end-to-end expertise in product design (formulation, prototyping), process development (scale-up, manufacturing process, validation), and product lifecycle management (post commercialization support, troubleshooting technical issues, product stewardship) through incorporation of consumer, category, business, and technical insights
With manager oversight, lead development of regional and/or global formulations for new product initiatives that align to the Baby brand strategy and pipeline
Proactively identify project obstacles / risks and troubleshoot issues by evaluating potential solutions to minimize impact through data & insights driven based risk-taking and decision making
Develop ability to analyze & translate key trends into insights, understand our competitive set, and how our products, claims, and/or communication can be improved on points of uniqueness and differentiation to truly delight the consumer
Perform lab formulation activities and stability analysis with hands-on involvement
Define critical process parameters and work with the manufacturing sites to understand equipment, capabilities, and establish process controls
Demonstrate technical understanding of formulation / ingredient technology, general chemistry principles, and process development
Participate and collaborate in cross-functional regional and/or global project teams to deliver new products
Plan and prioritize multiple projects / tasks to meet deliverables by monitoring progress of ongoing activities and communicating status updates to relevant stakeholders
Maintain accurate and organized records of project documents, data, and materials
Manage routine organizational processes and complexity
Draft and complete technical documents such as peer reviewed manuscripts, development summary reports, specifications, patent fillings
Follow established standards & processes (i.e. GDP, GLP) to ensure the department meets all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Pharmacy with pharmaceutical or consumer (cosmetics, OTC) experience
Minimum of 3 years of related experience or a Master's degree with 1-2 years of related experience
Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment while being an individual contributor
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks
Strong technical writing skills that facilitate the creation of documents that are complete & accurate
Proficient oral and written communication skills
Effective presentations skills that are used to communicate clearly & informatively
MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency
Desired:
Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Pharmacy
Experience with consumer products, such as skin care, emulsions, cleansers, hair care, oral care, baby care and/or deodorant products
Good technical foundation of formulated products including emulsions, surfactants, suspensions, structured liquids and an understanding of material chemistry
Experience collaborating with external partners (manufacturing vendors), suppliers, and technical project management
Familiarity with cGMP and other regulatory requirements
