Position Summary:

Join Straumann North America (NAM) as a Controller and play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of our financial operations. Lead the implementation of SAP S4 FICO, driving seamless integration and alignment with our financial systems and controls. Be a key player in our Global and Regional financial transformation journey!

Key Responsibilities:

SAP S4 FICO Implementation and Ownership:

  • Spearhead the planning, execution, and assessment phases of the SAP S4 FICO module implementation.
  • Customize and configure the system to meet specific financial processes and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with IT and external consultants to ensure technical compatibility and data integrity.
  • Train finance staff on new system functionalities and best practices.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a visionary roadmap for the controllership function, aligning with our long-term financial transformation goals.
  • Partner with IT to develop and execute an accounting system roadmap that extends beyond the foundational ERP system.
  • Identify and implement best practices to elevate financial reporting and accounting operations to best-in-class standards.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CFO and Lead Team, effectively communicating financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Anticipate and provide the necessary financial information and data analysis capabilities as Straumann’s business evolves.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the revenue recognition process for $1bn in product sales across multiple legal entities, partnering with the commercial controllership team.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory financial requirements related to management analysis, accounting, reconciliation, and reporting of net sales and related accruals.
  • Drive efficiency in revenue recognition processes, ensuring consistency, reliability, and repeatability.
  • Champion internal controls, partnering with the group head of Internal Controls to design relevant frameworks and ensure compliance.
  • Validate and approve all POs above $100K.
  • Provide accounting and finance expertise for US and CA-related topics.
  • Manage internal and external audit and reporting requirements, including quarterly and annual data submissions and audits.
  • Monitor cash flow, prepare forecasts, and manage bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee month-end closing activities, including accruals, payroll, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure correct AP coding and approval-routing, and drive changes needed for 100% compliance and adherence to budget.
  • Maintain proper accounting policies for revenue recognition and liaise with the FP&A and shared service center as needed.

Collections, Credit Management, and Financing:

  • Lead and develop accounts receivable and cash collections strategies, optimizing cash flow and aligning with organizational goals.
  • Manage and mentor the AR team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
  • Implement process enhancements to reduce outstanding receivables, improve collection timelines, and minimize risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve disputes and enhance customer relationships.
  • Develop and manage external financing options, ensuring alignment with internal cash management strategies.
  • Oversee and enhance credit policies, implementing controls to minimize risk and ensure customer creditworthiness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align external financing options with business needs and customer requirements.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage the following positions: Manager, Treasury; Manager, Accounts Receivable; (2) Accountants; (7) Collection Analysts.

Physical Attributes:

  • May sit for extended periods.
  • Utilize dexterity for typing, operating a computer, and performing filing and related job responsibilities.
  • Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.

Work Environment:

  • General office environment.
  • Noise level is usually quiet to moderate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with at least 5 years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Proficiency in using accounting software and tools to conduct research, review financial data, and implement new policies.
  • CPA required.
  • Strong SAP experience and hands-on mastery.
  • Experience working with all levels and disciplines within a large organization.
  • Analytical Abilities: Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide expert advice on regulatory changes and compliance issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicating technical accounting concepts to non-financial team members.
