Job Description:
The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, Tecumseh, NE (a maximum, medium and minimum custody facility), is accepting applications for the position of Corrections Lieutenant. DUTIES:
Responsible for specific shift of a custody force.
Conduct special investigations and resolve problems between inmates.
Supervise the performance of all assigned security staff, and indirect supervision of other institutional staff.
Conduct roll call and handle administrative paperwork.
Supervise custody activities such as searches, institutional tours, visitor and inmate escort, and initial commander in emergency situations.
Formulates and writes necessary reports involving incidents and activities during assigned shift.
Requirement/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Post-high school coursework/training in Criminal Justice or related Behavioral field and three years of progressively responsible corrections experience. Experience or coursework/training in supervision and leadership. Must be able to legally possess firearms and ammunition. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
Preferred Qualifications: One year of supervisory experience. Experience using KRONOS, or other electronic timekeeping system, in a supervisory capacity. Report writing experience and managing rosters. Experience working for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Other: Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to work any shift with weekends and holidays. Successful completion of background check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
