Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Education is looking for a Training Specialist for our Nutrition Programs team. In this role, you'll develop and lead trainings focused on nutrition and foodservice program compliance and best practices. You'll be part of a supportive, experienced team that's passionate about what they do - and ready to collaborate and share their knowledge with you.

This position is fixed term, with an end date of May 31, 2026. This position may be extended subject to the continuation and availability of funding.
Office Location: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE.
Pay Grade 7: $30.219/hour ($30.597/hour after pay structure increases on June 30, 2025)
This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate.

Essential Functions
Develops and implements training and development opportunities to staff working in school foodservice and Child Nutrition Programs related to program compliance and best practices.
Creates and updates learning materials and resources to support professional development opportunities.
Develops and maintains communications and marketing materials to increase awareness of training events and resources.
Conducts needs assessment analyses to propose development of new or updated training opportunities.
Conducts follow-up evaluations of completed training to measure results; modifies programs based on evaluations.
Attends training sessions and conferences to maintain current knowledge of latest trends, technologies, and provide information to other staff.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 90% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 10% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools, childcare centers, conferences, and meetings. There is also approximately one day of overnight travel per month.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field, and experience developing trainings based on compliance, regulations, or program guidelines, using asynchronous or self-paced learning platforms. Registered dietitian.
