Position Overview:
Motiva's Refinery is looking to hire Master Mechanics for our Critical Equipment Group (CEG) to join our team in Port Arthur. As a Master Mechanic - Compressor/Generator, you will perform preventative and predictive maintenance and document all activities on reciprocate compressors and steam turbines.
This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated position, and is subject to drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations.
Responsibilities:
Consult and maintain schematics, vendor manuals, and procedures to obtain troubleshooting and operational information.
Utilize the electronic maintenance database to complete accurate reports of work accomplished.
Perform field maintenance tasks including equipment troubleshooting, installation/removal, repair, and laser alignment.
Perform complete overhauls on reciprocators, centrifugal compressors/steam and gas generators, gearboxes, and steam turbines. Complete proper documentation of the repair, including equipment condition pictures and history.
Replace and install gearboxes.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Diagnose and apply results using a micrometer and alignment tools for power-driven connections.
Assemble and disassemble flanged bolted connections on piping and field equipment
Perform other general maintenance activities, including work with cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
Adhere to safe work practices and work permitting procedures.
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent education
3+ years of continuous and current experience working on reciprocators, centrifugal compressors/steam and gas generators OR must have an Associate's degree and/or formal level certification in a mechanical field
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card at time of hire
Preferred Education and Experience:
Formal journey level experience in mechanical rotating equipment
Physical Requirements:
Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

Must be willing and able to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs with or without accommodation
