Position Overview:



Motiva's Refinery is looking to hire Inside Machinist - Pump Mechanics to join our team in Port Arthur. As an Inside Machinist, you will perform complete repairs of parts using machine tools such as manual engine lathes, milling machines, vertical turret lathes, radial arm drill presses, metal cutting saws, and horizontal mills.


This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated position, and is subject to drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations.



Responsibilities:



  • Disassemble, clean, and inspect all types of rotating equipment, as well as other mechanical equipment.

  • Write adequate work scopes and identify parts that need to be replaced.

  • Perform complete builds on process pumps and ensure proper documentation of the repair, including equipment condition history.

  • Use and read precision measuring devices in tenths.

  • Check and adjust speed control governors on turbines.

  • Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes.

  • Use alignment tools for power-driven connections, such as laser alignment tools.

  • Perform other general maintenance activities, including work with cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.

  • Adhere to safe work practices and work permitting procedures.




Experience and Qualifications:




Required Education and Experience:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent education

  • 5+ years of continuous and current industrial machinist, mechanic, or millwright experience

  • Complete working knowledge of machine tools set up and machining of material to a given tolerance

  • Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card at time of hire




Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Formal journey level experience in a mechanical field geared towards rotating equipment




Physical Requirements:



  • Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation

  • Willing and able to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation

  • Willing and able to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs with or without accommodation

  • Motiva emphasizes safety in all phases of its business, therefore, with proper training, you must be willing to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level with or without accommodation

  • Willing and able to work in self-contained breathing apparatus



This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.

  • Must be willing and able to be on call and meet callout standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
