This position is responsible for recruiting and enrolling new students to the university by articulating the benefits students will receive by attending Bentley University. The chief purpose of this position is to promote and market the institution by providing guidance and information to various external constituencies including prospective students, families, school counselors, community-based organizations and others. Functions include the execution of various assignments and assisting in the achievement of department goals through the initiation and implementation of routine and ad hoc projects.
Essential Duties
Serve as territory manager for an assigned region(s). Plan and execute travel strategically in line with institutional priorities under the guidance of senior staff. Travel is expected to be up to 8 weeks throughout the academic year, with the majority of travel occurring in the fall.
Travel and promote Bentley University at high schools, college fairs and other educational forums providing public presentations to individuals and groups; develop and evaluate strategy for individually assigned geographic recruitment regions
Present the Bentley message, including the admission process, at on-campus information sessions. Interview prospective students on- and off-campus; follow up with written, telephone and email contact with students, parents and counselors.
Review admission applications, recommend decisions and participate in entire file review and scholarship selection processes.
Serve as officer-of-the-day on a rotating basis to assist with responding to questions received by phone, email, or in person to ensure smooth office operation.
Provide additional assistance with the visitor experience, special visit programs and special events as needed.
Other Duties
Support any professional activities needed in the Office of Undergraduate Admission as determined by the demands of the admission cycle.
Participate in industry meetings and conferences to continue professional development.
May be responsible for supervising and instructing student workers in various clerical and project functions, provide feedback to their supervisors when appropriate.
May be assigned responsibility for an office process or initiative based on previous experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required plus a minimum of 2 years of college admission or other highly- relevant experience.
Organizational and analytical abilities, solid communication and customer service skills, creative thinking, computer competency, ability to handle multiple tasks and belief in the value of a higher education and the capacity to articulate those benefits to the public.
Physical skills required of this position include an alertness in dealing with technical issues, accuracy in encountering large volumes of information and maintaining focus during frequent interruptions.
Commitment to working toward institutional and department goals relating to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.
Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.
Work Environment
Fast-paced and lively office environment with many scheduled and unscheduled demands on time, frequent interruptions from telephone calls, and staff and visitor activity.
Consistently providing exceptional customer service with a positive and pleasant attitude is essential.
Maintaining a high energy level is essential, as it helps you stay vibrant and effective during long hours both in the office and while traveling, ensuring your judgment, attitude, and accuracy remain top-notch.
Day and overnight travel required during the recruitment season, often necessitating early morning or late evening travel.
Position requires some work during evenings, weekends, or other holiday periods for recruitment travel and/or signature recruitment events on campus.
Physical skills required include alertness in dealing with technical issues, accuracy in handling large volumes of paperwork, and maintaining focus during frequent interruptions.
Recruiting events require lifting and carrying heavy boxes as well as standing for long periods of time.
Ability to work remotely on a frequent basis.
