Position Summary


This position will be responsible for assisting the various departments within Martin Marietta's Asphalt & Paving Division. While paving is the primary focus within Martin Marietta A&P, construction management within individual projects is a project managers primary responsibility. Project laborers will be trusted to execute their daily tasks as coordinated with the project manager as well as engage in learning the overall elements of the construction industry.


Responsibilities

• Meet and interact with crews daily before the shift begins. Ensure the crew has what they need for the day or at least to start the day.


• Observing and interacting with various professionals related to the construction field including owners, designers, subcontractors, and vendors.


• Attending staff and department meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate management to coordination meetings.


• Completing, updating and distributing project management communications of various types such as, safety inspections, material and labor logs, fill out various construction logs and inventory of consumables.


• Learn to read and understand the job work order.


• Log daily measurements of the areas, basic quantity collections.


• Enter daily quantities collected, distribute notes and photos of the project as needed.


• Work with the onsite inspector to settle daily quantities.


• Learn about traffic control setups (Typical Set Up's & MHTs).


• Be able to access traffic control permits and MHT's in TEAMS .


• Equip yourself with the required documentation to maintain project compliance.


• Work with the foreman assigned to the project to support their needs.


• Coordinate with onsite crews both internal and external.


• Keep an eye out for weather (rain / lighting).


• Enforce proper PPE standards.


• Manage street postings (ensure parked cars are addressed/towed prior to work taking place)


• Help manage trucks: Communicate and direct throughout the day and sign out at the end of day. Learn to manage truck costs


• Coordinate porta-john location and maintenance with assigned vendor.


• Be honest and approachable with everyone you deal with.


• Coordinate utility locates for the project with crew foremen assigned to the project and/or the superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent verbal communication (English Required Bi Lingual a plus)

• Work with others as a team player


• Ability to collaborate with a team and execute tasks independently


• Ability to interact with subcontractors, suppliers, and designers while developing relationships.


• Proficient in Windows and MS 365 Suite.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Previous experience in construction, preferable with asphalt or paving


• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Salary Posting:
We are excited to share the base range for this position is $28.70-$38.70, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity. In addition to our base compensation, we also offer a competitive benefits package for full time employees (more information on benefits listed below).
