High Steel Structures LLC is proud of the quality reputation we've earned as the steel fabricator of choice for North America's transportation infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking an Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team.
The Engineering Technician will work primarily in a checking role with a team, checking 2-D CAD shop drawings and 3-D CAD models for structural steel fabrication. The Engineering Technician must develop and apply a thorough knowledge and understanding of High Steel’s drawing standards and requirements, and High Steel’s preferred fabrication practices. The Engineering Technician must become proficient in reading and interpreting contract plans and various owner specifications. Additionally, as work volume requires, the Engineering Technician may assist in 2-D drafting and 3-D modeling of structural steel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of six (6) years of experience in structural steel detailing, modeling or fabrication is preferred.
An Associate degree in a related technical field is preferred.
Proficiency in Microstation or AutoCAD is required; Experience in 3D modeling is preferred. Experience using Tekla modeling software is preferred.
High skill level in algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
Skill in reading and interpreting contract plans and other technical documents related to structural steel fabrication.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an ability to work well within a team atmosphere, and an attention to detail.
Aptitude to gain an understanding of various company information and technical systems.
Proficiency in Windows operating system (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
