Job Overview:


As a Commission Salesperson at our Caterpillar equipment dealership in Wasilla,  Alaska, you will be responsible for selling Caterpillar construction, mining, and industrial equipment, parts, and services to businesses across the state. Your primary goal is to build and maintain strong customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive sales growth. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with a passion for heavy machinery, excellent communication skills, and a strong customer-first attitude.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Sales Generation:


    • Proactively seek out new business opportunities and expand the existing customer base by identifying key decision-makers in various industries (construction, oil & gas, mining, etc.).

    • Meet or exceed sales targets by selling Caterpillar equipment, parts, service contracts, and related products.

    • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve goals.


  • Customer Relationship Management:


    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers by providing top-tier customer service and ensuring satisfaction.

    • Conduct equipment demonstrations, negotiate sales, and close deals with clients.

    • Provide ongoing support and follow-up to ensure client needs are met post-sale.


  • Product Knowledge:


    • Stay informed on the full range of Caterpillar products, features, and benefits to effectively communicate their value to customers.

    • Maintain a deep understanding of the industries served, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities.


  • Territory Management:


    • Manage a defined territory, tracking customer activities, sales pipeline, and market trends.

    • Regularly report sales metrics and forecasts to management.


  • Collaborative Engagement:


    • Work closely with the service, parts, and finance departments to ensure smooth transactions and customer satisfaction.

    • Attend trade shows, networking events, and other industry-related functions to promote the dealership and products.



Qualifications:



  • Required:


    • Proven sales experience, preferably in heavy equipment, construction, or related industries.

    • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting or exceeding sales goals.

    • Willingness to travel within Alaska to meet with clients.

    • Valid driver’s license.


  • Preferred:


    • Familiarity with Caterpillar products or heavy machinery sales.

    • Experience working in Alaska’s diverse industries (oil & gas, construction, etc.).

    • Proficiency with CRM software and sales reporting tools.

Work Environment:


This position requires both office and fieldwork. The salesperson will travel frequently to customer sites in Alaska and may need to work in diverse environmental conditions, including construction sites and remote locations.

Education
