Responsible for maintenance and repairs of diesel semi’s tractors (Peterbilt with Paccar engines) and trailers including MC 331 bottles, 407 crude & condensate trailers and DOT 407/412 vacuum trailers used for hauling water along with related equipment including pumps, piping and valves. JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repairs will include, and candidate will need to be familiar with, tire changes/rotations, brake jobs, belt replacement, oil changes and alternator repair/replacement and other preventative maintenance
Be able to problem shoot and identify mechanical issues – prioritize repairs to keep fleet moving
Ensure that Targa’s standards are maintained with regard to tractor/trailer appearance, mechanical repair and conditioning
Trouble shoot and install ELD’s and scanners into all transport vehicles
Clean and maintain shop to meet all regulatory and Targa policies and practices for the safety of all employees
Schedule non-urgent maintenance requests received from drivers and log progress and completion
Log all completed maintenance into tracking spreadsheets
Ensure that all tractors and trailers have mandatory maintenance performed in accordance with DOT policy and that Targa’s fleet remains in compliance
Order parts, maintain inventory and store excess inventory appropriately
Utilize company fleet vehicle to run parts as required, or, relocate transports to and from 3rd party shops
Respond to call-outs utilizing fully equipped maintenance truck - - rotate responsibility and being on call with the mechanic team. Call-outs will require 24/7 response time
Be willing to work with minimal supervision

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required
Two years mechanical experience with diesel tractors and hazmat trailers
Demonstrated ability to perform rigorous outside and indoor duties including walking standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, sitting, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
Able to work on a computer with proficiency on email, excel
Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds to waist high.
Willing to respond to calls on weekends, after hours and work overtime when required
Physically able to transport equipment to and from vendors for repair, cleaning and inspections
Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
Regular and reliable attendance is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience working as a fleet mechanic
Ability to obtain a class A commercial drivers license with hazardous materials and tanker endorsements
Technical diesel school certificate or any DOT safety school certificate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.
Ability to work in changing climate conditions
Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
