Summary - basic function of the role

The Commercial Support Manager will conduct dedicated sales operations and business development functions for the Americas Heavy Lifting Technologies (HLT) sales team. The primary function will include managing HLT order fulfilment from initial receipt of a customer purchase order to the delivery of the product at the customer's specified location. The role will also include market analysis and business development for HLT within the infrastructure vertical in the Americas. The candidate will work a hybrid schedule and must work in-office from Tuesday to Thursday at any of our US-based facilities in Deer Park, TX, Columbus, WI, or our headquarters in Menomonee Falls, WI (which will be relocating to downtown Milwaukee in late 2024 or early 2025). Some travel, up to 10%, may be required domestically and internationally.

Shift: Monday - Friday, evenings and weekends may be required

Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Sales Operations Support - Manage the complete customer order experience through proactive engagement with customers and internal teams on order fulfilment requirements to ensure customer's needs are met. This requires the ability to understand our customers' typical project needs, Enerpac shipping and payment terms, and our internal systems used for order fulfilment and tracking. Work may include setting up new accounts, sending invoices, overseeing shipping logistics, updating quote templates & pricing files, and creating and briefing KPI reports on a weekly or monthly basis.

  • Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) - Leveraging Salesforce dashboards and supply reports, as well as communication with the Americas sales team and our Netherlands-based manufacturing team, clearly communicate supply and demand planning, and ensure it aligns with the HLT and corporate strategy. Lead weekly virtual S&OP conversations with internal stakeholders.

  • Infrastructure Vertical HLT Business Development - Conduct market and customer analysis using third-party project databases and publicly available market data, attend infrastructure-related networking or trade shows, and contact marketing generated leads to drive new HLT infrastructure business for Enerpac. This may include working with our global marketing team on demand-generation or awareness campaigns, alerting our sales team or distribution partners to potential new projects, participating in our corporate infrastructure strategy team, and providing some forecasting guidance for the Americas.

  • Sales Development - Provide qualified leads to the HLT commercial team by calling marketing-generated leads, leveraging distributor or customer base to reach key contacts at potential customers, or building relationships through networking and trade shows. Qualified leads will be converted to opportunities within Salesforce for a warm transfer to our field sales team. While the emphasis will be on the infrastructure vertical, leads for any HLT business may be included.

Skills and Competencies


  • Experience working with Microsoft 365 business applications and Salesforce or similar sales opportunity CRM is a must. Additional experience with industry specific project database programs and internal ERP order management systems is preferred.

  • Must be a strong communicator (both written and verbal) and have demonstrated experience working autonomously to solve customer issues and influence internal cross-functional teams.

  • Industrial, heavy-lifting, and high-pressure hydraulic sales, service, or product experience is required, as is demonstrated ability to understand mathematical concepts such as load and pressure calculations, statistical inference, and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations such as pricing/profit levels.

  • Valid driver's license and passport with ability to travel internationally.

  • Ability to pass site specific background checks and drug tests.


Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university, or a four-year technical degree or equivalent in engineering or technical field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical sales with emphasis on infrastructure projects; or related experience in industrial sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee may have to lift tools up to 50 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. This can include occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like. Employee may move themselves in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Employee will need to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another. Employee will need to operate machinery and/or power tools, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee will need to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Employee can work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time. Will have repetitive motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Work Environment

Primary work environment is temperature-controlled home office setting but may also be visiting different company facilities or customers where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. While visiting company facilities or visiting customers, employee may be exposed to high/low temperatures, outdoor elements (such as precipitation and wind), high levels of noise, hazardous conditions, small and/or enclosed spaces, or adverse environmental conditions.
