Purpose of the job

This individual is the key training resource for the assigned production area. The trainer has an essential role in the implementation of changes as well as assisting in problem resolution related to both production upsets and quality issues. The trainer provides support to the Safety Manager during employee onboarding

Main responsibility areas

  • Assists Value Stream Team leads in compliance with safety requirements/training for the line including safety meetings, audits, reporting and safety improvements.
  • Trains new technicians and assists technicians in advancement via the TPP (Technician Progression Program).
  • Updates TPP modules to ensure current with any changes to process or policies.
  • Assists Value Stream Team Leads in scheduling line staffing, including vacation/sick coverages and overtime as required.
  • Administrative duties, including the following:
  • Training/Safety records,
  • Work instructions,
  • ISO 9001 documentation,
  • Supports APLUS activities, including team facilitation and leadership.
  • Practices, by example, the priorities of the business (Safety, Environment, Quality, Productivity, Customer Satisfaction and Employee Satisfaction).
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Experience and education

(minimum level of knowledge and skills to fulfill one's responsibilities)

Work experience

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of Excel and Word software.
  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience

Formal education

Master's degree, pulp/paper science, engineering, finance or business, preferred

Bachelor's degree, pulp/paper science or engineering, required

Professional

High School Diploma or GED

No requirements

Other Required Attributes
  • Ability to work additional hours during the week, on weekends, or outside of regular office hours may be required.

  • The ability to work in a normal office environment to include: sitting or standing for long periods of time, operating various standard office equipment, carrying paper documents/files, reaching and bending, speaking on the telephone,

  • Ability to work for extended times in a pulp mill or paper mill environment, safely walk through our manufacturing plants and rough outdoor terrain, and wearing required personal protection gear (i.e. hand, hearing, breathing, head and foot protection).
