The Role
Matrix Renewables is looking for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in our fast-growing and well-established team. Ideally based in the Miami office, the Investment Associate will be responsible for leading valuation efforts, creating investment summaries, and making investment/divestiture recommendations to the investment committee within in the renewable energy/sustainable fuels space in the U.S.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Lead valuation efforts for renewable energy/green fuel projects
Prepare in-depth analysis for acquisition/divestments of renewable energy/green fuel projects based on project fundamentals and market conditions
Evaluate and prepare investment thesis for greenfield projects prior to be added to Matrix's balance sheet
Lead the preparation of investment committee memorandums including the proposal of actionable recommendations
Actively participate in reviewing Matrix capital efficiency strategy including capital recycling through asset divesture, raising of LCs, hold-co debt, etc.
Work cross-functionally within the organization and outside advisors to conduct project diligence and source key inputs for economic and qualitative analysis
Lead conversations with internal and external stakeholders as well as with potential investors
Manage M&A processes including coordinating with key stakeholders and reviewing transaction documentation
Prepare analysis supporting Matrix's portfolio through key equity deployment milestones
Assist in the preparation of monthly & quarterly reporting to TPG
Work creatively to implement long-term company strategic initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor' degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or similar preferred
2-5 years of experience in renewable energy project finance / investments / M&A in the U.S.
High level of proactivity and entrepreneurial mindset
Proficiency (2-5 years of experience) in renewable energy financial modeling
Expertise in tax equity modelingincluding capital accounts,depreciation, and buyouts(preferred)
Highly proficient in MS Excel,MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable interacting with internal management and transaction counterparties
Basic knowledge of accounting and tax treatments related to renewable energy projects (i.e.tax equity partnership flip mechanics)
Solid understanding of corporate financeand economic concepts
Basic understanding of U.S. power markets
