Radius Recycling is currently hiring a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager in Rancho Cordova, California.

The FP&A Manager reports directly to the Director of Business Planning and Analytics and has a strong matrixed reporting relationship to operational leadership. The FP&A manager supports the Radius Recycling Finance Department by managing the budgeting and forecast process and assisting with financial analysis for the Vehicle Purchasing and Marketing departments. The Manager FP&A position involves the application of advanced data analytics to be a partner to the business and to support executive level management. The position also involves the application of accounting principles to solve practical everyday problems.

A successful candidate in this position must be able to work independently, proactively identify opportunities, and work well under pressure.

Essential Functions:

The primary goal of this position is to lead and manage the budget and forecast process and drive improved profitability by supporting the Operational, Vehicle Purchasing and Marketing teams with analytical support.

Budgeting & Forecasting
  • In coordination with Autos operational and finance leadership teams, oversees and manages the monthly forecast and annual budget process. This includes developing variance analyses, provide meaningful insights into the business and answering questions that may arise.
  • Works with the operation and finance team to develop monthly purchasing and production goals that maximizes profitability. This includes a variety of financial modeling.
  • Processes the regional month-end operational financial data, inventory analysis, and consolidation of results. Review and assist with the forecast vs. actual variance analysis performed by the Sr. Financial Analyst.
  • Prepares and/or supports the Quarterly review and Board of Director presentations.
  • Perform ad-hoc requests as needed.

Operational Support
  • Partners with senior leadership in the Vehicle Purchasing and Marketing functions to submit price changes, review KPIs, and recommend changes.
  • Using financial models, proactively identify areas where improvements are required.
  • Take the lead in planning, developing, and implementing new strategic initiatives to support leadership in driving the business forward.
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis, data modelling and the preparation of presentation materials.

Internal Control Responsibilities:

Supports the Company's Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise Financial/Sr. Financial Analyst

Interpersonal Contacts:

Direct contact with Director of Business Planning and Analytics, Vehicle Purchasing managers, Director of Marketing, COO, Executive Management, IT, and Finance/Accounting employees.

Job Conditions:

This position is in-office at least 2-3 days per week (in an average office environment). Occasional exposure to dirt and dust related to auto salvage facility environment. Work pressure can be substantial during peak times, requiring considerable adaptability. Some travel may be required.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally; sit for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; write by hand and keyboard for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day. Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Visual acuity needed for close detail work, preparing, and analyzing data figures, accounting, and computer use.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting or equivalent combination of work experience and education. MBA a plus
  • Minimum five years of experience in financial analyst role or professional accounting
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work and cooperate with others to complete projects.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, comfortable with multi-tasking and juggling multiple priorities.
  • Experience with and ERP financial system (Oracle and Hyperion) preferred.
  • SQL, Power BI and Big data experience would be a significant advantage
