Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team Overview

Our primary goal is to maximize return on capital over the long term while managing an acceptable level of risk. This involves regular collaboration with senior management at both corporate and business unit levels. The ERM team, based in Greenwich, CT, includes ERM actuaries and catastrophe modelers responsible for identifying, quantifying, and reporting on insurance, investment, credit, and operational risks.

Role Description

The successful candidate will work on various projects focused on casualty accumulation, catastrophe modeling, cyber insurance, and emerging risks. Expertise in handling both quantitative and qualitative information is essential. The candidate will engage with leaders from business units and senior executives from other corporate functions. Actuarial exam support is available for those pursuing an actuarial designation.

Key Responsibilities

Casualty Accumulation
  • Develop and support the casualty data ETL process.
  • Analyze and visualize casualty accumulations to provide insights to business leaders.
  • Create casualty catastrophe scenarios by studying historical events and emerging risks.
  • Model complex casualty reinsurance protections.

Cyber, Climate Change, and Emerging Risks
  • Monitor cyber insurance exposures and model cyber catastrophe events.
  • Research and quantify the impact of emerging risks, including climate change, on property and casualty lines, invested assets, and general business operations.

Risk Assessment and Reporting
  • Measure and monitor property and workers compensation risk aggregation.
  • Assist with ERM reporting for senior management, rating agencies, and regulators.
  • Support the automation and management of key risk processes and projects.
  • Help implement and maintain risk assessment processes across domestic and international business units.

Required Qualifications
  • :Aspiration to develop a career in P&C (re)insurance
  • .Skilled in R/Python and Excel
  • .Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • .Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities
  • .Ability to conduct independent research on diverse risk topics
  • .Familiarity with casualty lines of business (e.g., general liability, professional lines)
  • .3-10 years of pertinent experience
