What you will do

Join our strategy and operations consulting team at McConnell Jones. In this pivotal hands-on role, you'll engage with diverse industries and clients, harnessing your analytical and critical thinking prowess to deeply comprehend client processes. You'll interview client personnel, prepare process maps documenting the "as is" and "to be" state of business processes, write narratives documenting tasks, perform process walkthroughs, benchmark processes against industry best practices, conduct gap analyses, and develop improvement recommendations. Leveraging your skills in process mapping, process flow diagramming, and proficient writing, you'll effectively communicate solutions. Strategic Leadership
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of consulting projects based upon a variety of project objectives from capacity building to regulatory compliance to business process improvement.
  • Assist with defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Review project assessments and evaluate project outcomes.
  • Ensure optimal project resource allocation.

Analytical Expertise
  • Utilize data analysis to drive informed business decisions and achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Display adeptness in conducting interviews, taking comprehensive notes, and analyzing data.
  • Define project tasks and ascertain resource requirements.
  • Develop, plan, and schedule project timelines, ensuring efficient execution.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other data analytics based on project objectives.

Collaboration and Communication
  • Offer guidance, direction, and support to project teams.
  • Showcase ability to work with other team members towards a common goal.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with client management.
  • Assist with setting project goals and devising effective implementation strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and clients to ensure a collaborative approach.

Project Management
  • Provide input into project management plans designed to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Assist with aligning projects with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Monitor, control, and manage budget and timeline for assignments given.

Business Development
  • Work towards becoming a subject matter expert within McConnell Jones and among clients.
  • Forge connections to facilitate new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the director and team to drive practice growth.

Compliance and Security
  • As part of our compliance program, all team members are required to follow industry leading data and system security practices.

What you will need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance auditing, consulting, and external client interactions.
  • Minimum 6 years of demonstrated consulting experience, including performance auditing, across diverse industries.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on achieving tangible business results.
  • Expertise in working on teams effectively.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient report writing skills.
  • Possess effective verbal communication and presentation capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

What we prefer
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA).
  • Public sector experience.
  • Performance auditing experience.
  • Project management experience a plus, but not required.
