Position Overview:
Variable, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Operations to join our team. This individual will oversee all aspects of our manufacturing operations, ensure the efficient production of high-quality products, and maintain accurate production data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lean manufacturing, exhibit natural leadership qualities, and possess a logical, process-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive production plans to meet company goals.
  • Optimize production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Adjust production plans as necessary to accommodate changes in demand and capacity.

2. Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the production team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and self-accountability; promote a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop long-term operational strategies and work with senior management to meet company objectives
  • Report directly to the CEO and represent Operations team with cross functional leadership
  • Provide guidance and support to team members for professional growth and development.

3. Operational Efficiency:
  • Identify and implement lean manufacturing techniques to minimize production costs and improve efficiency.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate production processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance flexibility and responsiveness in production capacity.

4. Product Quality:
  • Ensure that all products meet the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and enforce quality control processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to resolve any issues promptly.

5. Accurate Financial Data:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational data in the Netsuite ERP system.
  • Provide reliable lead-time feedback to other departments and stakeholders.
  • Utilize data to make informed decisions and drive operational improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading manufacturing operations, preferably in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated agile supply chain when scaling up new and existing product lines.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Customer mindset with thoughtful consideration of alternate options.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a logical, process-driven mindset.
  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to actively engage in production activities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to take initiative and remain resilient in the face of challenges.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Experience with MRP or ERP software, particularly Netsuite.
  • Previous experience reporting directly to CEO or other C-Suite executive.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and other budgetary analysis.
  • Success in scaling up new product lines and launching new products.
