Overview

The SVP is a key leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction, operational excellence, and people management initiatives within the organization. This position plays a critical role in succession planning, ensuring the development and retention of top talent, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. The SVP will work closely with the executive team to formulate and implement strategies that support the company's vision and mission. The SVP of Sales is responsible for leading the entire Covenant Sales Team in delivering superior service and support to our customers in a safe and efficient manner. Maximizing our sales team to meet the needs of the customers and achieving financial goals of the business unit. Including developing customer relationships to grow our service offerings and assisting in sales pursuits to add additional business opportunities.



Responsibilities

· Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to drive significant revenue growth and profitability across all business units.

· Provide leadership and strategic direction to the sales teams, ensuring alignment with Covenant Logistics’ overall business objectives.

· Foster a culture of collaboration, cross-selling, and communication across all business units to unlock new growth opportunities.

· Oversee and manage all sales teams, ensuring consistent and effective sales processes and practices across the organization.

· Drive professional development and growth opportunities for the sales team, enhancing their skills and performance.

· Support the business unit leaders, enabling them to focus on serving customers while being relieved of administrative tasks.

· Maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.

· Travel as required to meet with customers and sales teams, fostering strong connections and driving business development.

· Regularly review sales performance, providing updates and insights to the executive team.

· Implement improved sales processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

· Monitor market trends and competitor activities, adjusting strategies as necessary to stay competitive.

· Promote and enhance communication and collaboration across all business units.

· Ensure consistent sales incentive plans that encourage cross-selling and business referrals among different Business Units.



Qualifications

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products.

· Knowledge of current and emerging CRM software.

· Exceptional leadership and managerial skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.

· Deep understanding of the logistics industry, including key trends, challenges, and regulatory requirements as it relates to selling activities.

· Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information to various stakeholders, including executive leadership, team members, and clients. Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to develop and implement effective strategies to achieve business goals. Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong partnerships with clients, stakeholders, and team members. Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution, with the ability to achieve favorable outcomes for the company and clients. Strong knowledge of fiscal management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.

· Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or logistics required. 1 year of equivalent experience may be substituted for each year of education required.

· 12+ years progressive sales experience required.

· 7+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role overseeing sales strategy and personnel required. 10 years preferred.

· 5+ years’ experience in a transportation or logistics setting required.

· Demonstrated success in driving significant revenue growth and profitability across multiple divisions.

· Extensive experience in developing and implementing successful sales strategies required.

Covenant’s compensation philosophy’s intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.
