Job Description:

Entegris is seeking a Senior Manager, Investment Lead in its Entegris Ventures team to drive the venture investment process in select mid-stage (A/B round) startups, including fund strategy, deal sourcing, due diligence, risks assessment, engagement, partnership definition, deal execution, and portfolio management. The role will focus on opportunities that align with our materials science innovation culture, High-Tech go-to-market channels, unit-driven business model, sustainability objectives, and PACE Values.

In this role, you will partner across the organization, from the CTO office and R&D technologists to Business Development teams to the Corporate New Market Development function, in an effort to identify and manage the pipeline of opportunities for Entegris, in selected Tech & Life Sciences market verticals, as well as in pathfinding innovation in new Semiconductor application domains.

This individual will be a critical member of a small, nimble team and have responsibility over the definition, presentation for validation, negotiation execution, and supervision of a diverse set of investments that will 1. contribute learnings, 2. identify disruptive technologies and business models, 3. augment our ER&D capability, 4. access talents, and 5. drive continued growth for wider Entegris, with an ambition to boost our mid- to long-term growth by an extra >1-2% CAGR.

What You'll Do:

Collaboration: Develop and execute consistent and effective stakeholder strategy to ensure innovation alignment with senior business leaders to support inorganic growth opportunities and ongoing collaboration, engagement to ensure sustained support. Work in close collaboration with Corporate Development, BU Technology and Leadership teams, and with CTO teams to develop mapping of priority verticals, application domains, and start-up ecosystems.

Sourcing: Proactively network internally and externally to identify new opportunities. Manage relationships with stakeholders across the venture capital network to drive partnerships across a diverse channel of partners including universities & innovation ecosystems, funds, VCs, and CVCs already operating in targeted Tech markets. Leverage the state-of-the-art innovations and technologies to curate a continual stream of startup formation.

Partnerships with start-ups: Lead the definition of value-accretive partnerships for the start-up, as well as ensure value creation for Entegris BUs (in existing Semi Market) and New Market Development units (in new Tech & LS Markets).

Start-ups engagement: Analyze ~200-300+ start-ups/yr; conduct >50MPs; engage in ~15 DD and partnership definition; with objective to partner & invest in 2-3 start-ups/year/investment lead. Prepare and present pitch decks alongside founders to CTO, and Ventures IC members.

Capital deployment: follow Entegris Ventures stage-gate process to ensure appropriate allocation of investments across pre-agreed priority verticals, efficient capital allocation, and risks mitigation. Articulate exit strategies and ensure value-creation framework/tracking is in place, as well as that portfolio yields adequate returns.

Communication on funnel, portfolio, and value-creation: Regularly provide updates to Ventures Investment Committee (and/or Fund Board), Entegris Executive Leadership Team, and to key division/BU stakeholders on the overall health of the portfolio and value creation derived for Entegris from the investments. Partner with Entegris Marketing and Communications team to develop internal and external PR communication strategies to create advocacy and excitement for portfolio, and enthusiasm for continued investment.

Longer-term: Provide strategic thought leadership in developing and maturing the Corporate Ventures organization, processes and effectiveness, in addition to an ability to execute.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

  • Master's degree in Technology, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering, complemented with MBA; Or Master's degree in business, accounting, economics, or strategy with strong technology curiosity.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in High Technology Industry, Business Development or Finance desired
  • 3+ years Corporate Strategy, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital required.
  • Successful business development complementary experience desired, alongside M&A track record
  • Strong understanding or direct experience in corporate venture capital
  • Strong data, analytics, technology experience and understanding.
  • Financial modeling and superior analytical skills
  • Bias for action and the ability to multi-task and balance priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial openness and ability to explore new possibilities and to approach issues differently.
  • Advanced skills in some of the following areas: innovation management, systems thinking, planning, and organizing, relationship building, collaboration, critical thinking, project management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning and execution skills to drive the continued evolution of a functional capability.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with the ability to provide concise, relevant market commentary and periodically explain complex industry and corporate development terms/concepts directly to key stakeholders.
