Job Description:

A Full-time, Pricing Actuary Analyst job is available with our client, based in NJ. This is a hybrid role.

This position is responsible for developing and refining underwriting pricing. Furthermore, will provide support for underwriting systems development, underwriting compliance and filing, and ad hoc underwriting decision analysis. This role will work with a number of different departments (Group Actuarial, Business Analysts, and IT) to interface decision support tools with systems.

Further duties and responsibilities are listed below:
  • Conduct a full range of actuarial and financial analysis to quantify performance including
  • predictive modeling.
  • Update and improve pricing tools and concentrate on Ad Hoc pricing support.
  • (Underwriting analysis as required).
  • Rating analysis of digital underwriting product lines including development of reports in collaboration with the underwriting team.
  • Run regular meetings with underwriters to present results and projections.
  • Work closely with business partners to provide direction on ways to improve portfolio performance.
  • Develop assessments of the markets rate adequacy for select segments of the business.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of the underwriting regulatory rate book.
  • Verify rate versions applied to filed accounts are within filed rating boundaries.
  • Develop responses to regulatory rate filing questions for justification and support.
  • Research and review competitors' rate and regulatory filings.
  • Work with stakeholders across the group to integrate and interface decision support tools into underwriting systems.
  • Assist Actuarial and Finance during the business planning process.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in either Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related fields.
  • Associate Actuary progress or pursuit or equivalent experience.

Skills/Experience:

Required:
  • P&C or specialty insurance company experience.
  • Broad overall knowledge of insurance.
  • Ability to interact and work within a team environment and approach actuarial work as a collaborative product.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and influence management skills with demonstrated ability to lead discussions and convey technical concepts (presenting) to management and other functional areas.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects.
  • Must be detail-orientated and able to quickly evaluate the accuracy of information.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in Mathematics and Actuarial Science.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel which includes Macros, SQL, Pivot Tables, V-Lookup and in writing database queries.
  • Proficient PC skills developed through extensive use of Windows and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with IT systems and their development a plus.
  • May require travel by airplane and/or automobile in conducting business domestically/internationally.
