Job Description:

Our client, a growing financial institution, is looking to expand their Risk & Operations team with a Payments Operations Manager who will oversee a critical part of the product lines, focusing primarily on their fintech clients and improving current functions (e.g. real time payments).

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations Management:
  • Oversee daily operations of the Payment Operations team.
  • Ensure all electronic payments (ACH, Wire, Card services) are processed accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor and manage payment processing workflows and systems.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Payment Operations Analysts.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Project Management:
  • Drive projects and roadmap deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to resolve friction points.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payment regulations and standards.
  • Implement and maintain robust risk management processes.
  • Stay updated with changes in payment regulations and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to enhance payment systems.
  • Be a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding payment processing issues.
  • Manage relationships with payment processors and other third-party vendors (e.g., Fiserv).
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Develop and maintain documentation for payment processing procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on payment processing performance and KPIs.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience in payment processing or financial operations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in electronic payments.
  • Experience with managing relationships with payment processors and other third-party vendors.

  • Certifications:
  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), Accredited Payments Risk Professional (APRP)).
