Analyze transmission expansion needed to address energy market inefficiencies using production cost modeling tools including but not limited to PROMOD, PROMOD Analysis Tool (PAT), PSS/E, Transmission Adequacy Reliability Assessment (TARA).

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Answers advanced external customer inquiries from client relations through Siebel/MS Dynamics/Shared Email Inboxes.
• Prepares and presents materials for presentations at PAC, PSC, RECBWG, and SPM stakeholder meetings as needed.
• Prepares and presents materials for workshops.
• Provides support and feedback to economic planning team members on material development and presentations.
• Demonstrates willingness to mentor others.
• Leads development of generation, load, and renewable energy profile workbooks from internal sources and economic data vendor sources.
• Collaborates on powerflow mapping and on workbook updates, reviews, and cleaning.
• Participates in model-building working sessions and focus on communicating the model-building process and creating connections between data sources and their impacts.
• Ensures model building process is being followed while keeping an open mind for better improvements that would benefit model building process.
• Demonstrates an understanding of all economic model build processes.
• Leads development of generation, load, and renewable energy profile workbooks from internal sources and economic data vendor sources.
• Participates in model-building working sessions and focus on communicating the model-building process and creating connections between data sources and their impacts.
• Ensures model building process is being followed while keeping an open mind for better improvements that would benefit model building process.
• Maintains a strong understanding of tools, software, resources, and vendors utilized for model-building, flowgate identification, and economic study work.
• Identifies and communicates areas of opportunity for process improvement and accepts the need for change with assistance.
• Collaborates with economic planning team to execute process improvement initiatives.
• Performs testing of new tools and processes.
• Reaches out to newcomers to help them understand processes, and ensure they are included in process conversations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical And Computer Engineering, Electrical And Electronic Engineering Or Electronics And Computer Engineering

Technology, or related field
• Sr I: 6 years experience required; 7 years preferred

o Related economic transmission planning, compliance, regulatory standards, or expansion planning experience (required)

o Related Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) or Regional Reliability Organization (RRO) experience (preferred)

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CAPABILITIES

• Ability to analyze and assess the transmission system for congestion; to ensure operational reliability, adequacy, efficiency, and security, and the long-term needs of transmission customers are being met
• Good understanding of the energy market, underlying transmission system and generation fleet and its response under contingent conditions
• Ability to perform production cost modeling analysis to identify economic opportunities to be addressed through transmission and/or generation solutions
• Ability to develop, communicate, and coordinate project plans and projects
• Comprehension of complex business scenarios; including the ability to define problems, collect & analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Virtual conferencing platforms (Webex, Teams, Zoom)
• Understanding NERC, FERC Regulatory Compliance Requirements
• Databases such as Production Costing software, PROMOD/Powerbase, PAT, or Portfolio Assessment software
• Understanding of production cost model building process and techniques
• Load Forecasting techniques and principals of economic dispatch
• Basic fuel and power market dynamics; economic and environmental regulations related to power sector
