Our Apex team is currently looking for a Plant HR Manager to join the local leadership team. The Plant HR Manager will execute activities related to the everyday management of human resources including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, training and development, compensation administration, compliance, and records. The role provides functional expertise, is an employee champion, a strategic partner for management, and an agent of change for all.
The Plant HR Manager reports directly to HR Director of North America and is a member of the site leadership team.
Responsibilities
Partner with site leadership, providing HR guidance on all employment matters.
Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
Consult, advise, and train managers on how to handle sensitive employment issues, progressive discipline up to and including employment terminations and administering disciplinary processes.
Coach and counsel employees and managers on HR policies and procedures.
Manage the recruiting/hiring process for site including coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates and selecting qualified candidates.
Parter with site leaders to manage headcount to budget.
Monitor and report on workforce metrics for local sites.
Conduct exit interviews and use data to improve turnover at local site.
Periodically review and revise local policies with input from managers and HR colleagues, utilizing JBT best practices when appropriate.
Recommend, plan and implement pay actions. Facilitate the preparation and administration of bonus plans.
Ensure human resources systems are accurate and up to date (e.g. records on hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations).
Manage the performance review process.
Conduct investigations in response to employee complaints as needed.
Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal, state and local laws and regulations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
Identify training needs, determine cost effective solutions, and coordinates, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the training.
Assist managers with developing internal talent. Work with management to identify high potential employees and to improve effectiveness, knowledge of all staff.
Support corporate and division diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Work closely with other division HR staff on projects.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred, HR certification a plus
Minimum 7 years’ experience in progressively responsible HR roles
Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment with unskilled, skilled, and professional labor
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Self-motivated, self-directed, and highly organized
Strong knowledge of human resources practices
Experience conducting employee investigations
Experience with FLSA, state, local and federal employment laws
Ability to solve complex problems
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations
Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
PLATFORM, DATABASE AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Proficiency with human resource information systems (HRIS) and recruitment platforms
