Job Description:


ECS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Architect with expertise in analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, data modeling, and advanced analytics, with a proven ability to design and implement robust data solutions that support business objectives and drive innovation for our capture, bid, and proposal efforts within our VA T4NG2 portfolio.

In this role candidates will be empowered to lead the development of enterprise solutions throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from deal qualification through proposal submission and into knowledge transition following award. The candidate will also support program teams responsible for designing, developing, installing, documenting, managing, and maintaining Data and AI solutions. The candidate will work in a demanding, high-energy environment that requires innovative solutions to resolve operational challenges. You will collaborate with other technologists and process SMEs to develop solution concepts, elicit feedback from both customers and other experts within the company, and iterate towards well-defined technical solutions that separate ECS from competition.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Develop and maintain scalable, robust data architectures that meet current and future business needs.
  • Design data models, schemas, and database structures to support analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives.
  • Create and manage data pipelines, ensuring efficient data flow and integration across various systems.
Data Management:
  • Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and security.
  • Oversee data warehousing, data lakes, and other storage solutions to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to define data requirements and standards.
Analytics and AI:
  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced analytics and AI solutions, including predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and AI applications.
  • Work closely with business units to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools to support decision-making.
Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Collaborate with IT, business leaders, and external partners to ensure alignment of data strategies with organizational goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data architecture, analytics, and AI, and recommend relevant innovations.
Salary Range: $150,000-$180,000

Required Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in data architecture, data modeling, and database design.
  • Experience with some of the following VA applications/programs: Veteran Identity/Eligibility Reporting System (VIERS), VA Department of Defense (DoD) Identity Repository (VADIR), Veterans Information Solution (VIS), Health Data Repository (HDR)/Clinical Data Service (CDS), Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Summit Data Platform (SDP), Customer Experience Data Warehouse (CxDW), Veterans Informatics and Computing Infrastructure (VINCI), VA Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Data Access Service (DAS) Enterprise Service Enhancements (DESE).
  • Strong expertise in data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration.
  • Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and related data services.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning, AI frameworks, and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.



Desired Skills:

  • Experience with data governance and data quality management.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD processes for data solutions.
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate).
