We are seeking a Robotics Control System Engineer to support the Advanced Production System team in Auburn, Washington. We are looking for a broad range of experience including Associate, Mid-level, and Senior engineers.

The Advance Production System is a section of Materials & Manufacturing Technology within Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T). Our scope of work spans initial concept (TRL 1) to feasibility/development (TRL 3) to production implementation (TRL 7) and production support.

The selected candidate will work on various projects in a lab environment, supporting different internal customers. We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, willing to take task on their own, and try to figure out the solutions. Successful engineers in this position need the curiosity to know, the ability to navigate themselves in a vague requirement, and can think outside of box. The successful candidate will need to be a good communicator while working on a team with other engineers to deliver valuable technology to the customer. Some of the work we perform may take us to locations outside of the Puget Sound area; therefore, there will be times when business travel is required.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for robotic systems
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
  • Performing engineering activities including development, integration and testing of automated systems
  • Influencing, innovating, and continuously improving the software engineering process as well as quality, safety and reliability of our products and services
  • Collaborating proactively with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports to understand operational and performance expectations
  • Support project management initiatives
  • Willingness to learn and work with new technologies

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 2+ years of experience with automated/robotics/production systems diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • 2+ years of experience in programming, integrating, or troubleshooting industrial robots from OEM's such as ABB or FANUC, or PLCs, NCs, HMIs, or Drives such as Siemens, FANUC or Allen Bradley
  • Experience researching, producing, and presenting technical information
  • Ability to travel up to 10%


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master's degree
  • 5+ years of ABB/Rapid robot programming, Siemens TIAPortal, Rockwell RSstudio
  • Machine Vision Programming (CV, Cognex Vpro, Cognex Insight, others/general)
  • Experience with communications programming/implementing (fieldbus: Profinet/ProfiSafe, Eithernet/IP) and networking (TCP/IP, Telnet, Serial 232, 485)
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working with laser automation application.
  • Experience supporting automated equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience with MATLAB, C++, Python, C#, .NET
  • Experience with computer aided design (CAD) (ex. CATIA)
  • Project management skills

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Summary Pay Range Associate: $82450 - $111550

Summary Pay Range Mid-Level: $102000 - $138000

Summary Pay Range Senior: $124950 - $169050
