Overview

Moraine Park Technical College is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate ASoftware Developer Instructor to join our faculty as an adjunct instructor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a software development course at our Fond du Lac campus. This course will run from January 6th through January 17th, 2025.


 


This position is responsible for the multiple modality delivery of instruction and facilitation of student learning and providing ongoing development of curriculum, assessment, and learning strategies to meet workforce needs. In addition, will provide regular student support and contact, or refer to the appropriate department, to meet the learner's classroom and career goals.


 



Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College's core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected timeframe.
  • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • May participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
  • Assist with student recruitment and positively promote the College programs and services offered.
  • Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
  • Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




 



Must-Have Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of related paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experience, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.)
  • Experience with at least one of the following job duties:

    • Analyze, develop, and support application software, e.g. design, build, test, implement, or maintain applications, software, or data structures.

    • Experience developing new software solutions.

    • Develop, maintain, and support a database management system.

    • Experience in the full lifecycle from design to support.

    • Experience in object-oriented design and development experience and proficiency in ASP.net, Java, PHP, and C# required.

    • Proficiency in performing SQL Server administration, development, and design tasks.

    • Direct occupational experience in one of the following roles is preferred: Software Developer, Software Engineer, Application Developer, or Software Architect.


  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

Other Position
Requirements:


  • Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require travel to MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations other than the base location, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
