An Engineering Technician in Bridge Inspection at Consor will serve as an Assistant Team Leader and learn the Bridge Inspection trade. You will inspect various structures that will include highways bridges, grade separations, ancillary structurs, tunnels culverts and may include marine and waterfront structures. You will go where the assigned structures are: locally, regionally or around the US. If you don't want to be at a desk all day every day and apply your Engineering skill in the field, this could be for you.
Responsibilities
• Conducts safety inspections of assigned bridges and prepares written reports of the conditions of the structures.• Assists in-depth inspections using non-destructive testing methods, mechanized access equipment and/or climbing gear.• Performs post-incident bridge inspections to determine severity of damage and recommends appropriate actions with regard to bridge closures and detours.
Qualifications
• Willing to complete comprehensive training course based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual (BIRM) (NHI Course 130055).• Must be physically able to perform inspections in the field with various forms of access.• Any experience with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) as a bridge inpsection assistant is a plus.• NDT Certification is a plus.• Experience with reporting procedures is a plus or report writing experience.
