Overview
Data Base Administration
Database Administration & Maintenance
Outline technical specifications, documentation, and back-end requirements for reports.
Assists with data gathering and validation in collaboration with stakeholders and other BI team members.
Develops tables, views, procedures and ETL processes as needed to meet business data needs.
Maintains and supports database, BI gateways, servers, VM and required software in collaboration with OHSU DBA teams and IT.
Ensures CLA is compliant with OHSU and regulatory body security protocols for data and data infrastructure.
Assists in maintenance of quarterly deployments, system software, version control, updates and new releases.
Maintains development and production spaces.
Reviewing updates and changes to the EMR, developing, and deploying a plan in the event the change impacts reporting.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and specifications for back-end and front end (Power BI, SSRS) infrastructure.
Collaborate with other BI Analysts, Leadership and OHSU to ensure CLA is compliant with policies relating to reporting, storing, and using data using secure methods and practices.
Develop/assist with process improvement initiatives designed to improve data governance, data integrity and data interpretation.
Maintain front end reporting tools to ensure accessibility, security and data accuracy.
Develop and perform routine maintenance on reporting infrastructure and develop plan with manager to optimize areas of concern.
Supports other analyst with maintenance of the production database, the organ donor EMR replication database, and UNOS data systems.
Collaborate with vendors to establish routine maintenance, deployment plans, software upgrades, and organize required trainings.
Business Intelligence
Assist to develop project plans for BI reports/data projects with dept. stakeholders.
Collaborate with BI team members to develop front end reports and train staff.
Develop training resources for users accessing reports/data including data literacy and offering technical support in areas relating to BI.
Compile data and generate reports as needed for the Cascade Life Alliance Advisory Board, the Cascade Life Alliance Medical Advisory Committee, OHSU Central Financial Services, hospital teams across the donor service area, and other entities as requested by manager.
Gathers data into observations that help drive improvement initiatives through visualizations, KPIs, and education as assigned by CLA Leadership.
Data Governance
Collaborates with Quality Assurance (QA) to identify and address documentation errors and inconsistencies using reporting tools.
Review/develop data entry process for new or existing EMR modules in collaboration with different depts.
Develop and uphold data governance practices and deployment pipelines for production level reports.
Maintain/update data glossary and BI reports as language/ technical definitions change.
Submit data to external entities on behalf of CLA.
Innovation
Continuously consider organizational data needs and advise BI manager on gaps in data collection, data use.
Be aware of industry standards and innovation opportunities to advance data reporting, data use and technology relating to Business Intelligence.
Security & System Administration
Act as admin to complete approved changes to the EMR, taking into consideration impacts on the database and user experience.
Developing and upholding dept. security standards relating to organizational data in compliance with OHSU policy.
Assist in development of plans for emergency situations including testing, downtime, data breaches, and recovery activities/strategies of the database.
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 3 years of information technology related experience including application development (two years of the required experience should include database administrator experience on the same or similar database, with experience in database recovery, backups, and system tuning, as well as operating system administration and one year of the required experience should include programming on the same or similar database); OR
Associate’s degree in computer science or related field and five years of information technology related experience including application development (two years of the required experience should include programming on the same or similar database with the responsibilities that included working with backup programs, data recovery programs and system administration experience and one year of the required experience should include experience performing database administrator related functions with experience in recovery, backups, and system tuning); OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
