About the Department
The Student Counseling Service (SCS) is a part of the Student Wellness and Counseling Services organization within Campus and Student Life. SCS provides mental health care to students and their dependents who have paid the Student Life Fee. Mental health services include diagnostic assessments; crisis assessment and intervention; individual, couples, and/or group psychotherapy; medication management; academic skills counseling; and referral services. SCS staff provides consultation to University of Chicago faculty, staff, and administrators, and outreach/education to the campus community. In its care for students, SCS employs a multidisciplinary team of mental health clinicians, supports a psychology training program, and serves as a training rotation site for psychiatry residents.

Job Summary:



Clinical Case Manager for Chicago, IL location. Assists students in accessing mental health resources outside of Student Wellness Center. Develops and implements systems for follow-up with students who have been referred to community resources. Develops and maintains a database of area providers and programs. Cultivates relationships with area providers and programs. Assists students with resource access outside of the Chicagoland area. Conducts clinical diagnostic evaluation and assessment of clients, including urgent-care/crisis evaluations as-needed for students, including underrepresented populations (international students, students of color and LGBTQ). Provides goal-focused, evidence-based time-limited counseling as-needed. Provides emergency and crisis intervention services during and after-hours as needed. Participates in clinical and administrative staff meetings. Provides clinical supervision of non-employee trainees as appropriate.



Education:



Master's degree in Social Work or related field plus 3 years of experience in counseling required. Required: three years experience: working with college and graduate student populations, including underrepresented populations (international students, students of color & LGBTQ); conducting urgent-care or crisis evaluations; providing evidence-based, time-limited counseling. Must be available for emergency after-hour coverage. Must be licensed or license eligible in Illinois to practice for clinical social worker (LCSW).
