Job Description:

Apex Systems is hiring a Substation Designer in either the Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA area!

This is designated as a hybrid position.

Job description:
  • Perform substation control building and relay panel project reviews and compare with the company standard drawings. This position will require the successful candidate to develop an understanding of the company standards and assist with ensuring these standards are being followed from design through to the final product. These reviews may include reviewing vendor provided control building drawings, on the front end of a project and providing feedback to the vendor. Also, reviewing the project drawings and comparing them to the Standards to see if there were any deviations. As well as going to the project sites to review the completed product. The results of these reviews will need to be put together and shared back to the Substation Control Standards Supervisor to report on the effectiveness of standards across the company.

Qualifications/Experiences (must haves):
  • Experience with Design type of work
  • Understanding of how to read design prints
  • Able to compare project drawings to the company standards
  • Effective communication skills and able to provide detailed reports
  • Ability to travel throughout the Southern Company footprint to perform project reviews
  • Self-motivated and able to take tasks and complete them with little oversight

Additional Items (nice to haves):
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience
  • Familiar with the Autodesk toolset
  • Familiar with Substation layouts
  • Familiar with Relay Panel assemblies
