Automotive Plant Quality Engineer

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We're searching for a dynamic Quality Engineer to join our team and revolutionize our QA processes on the shop floor. If you're passionate about quality, continuous improvement, and making a tangible impact, this role is for you!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive Excellence: Implement and oversee QA procedures including 1st piece approval, last piece verification, quality gates, and the QA network.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement: Partner with the QA Shop Coordinator to spearhead statistical process control and kaizen activities aimed at enhancing quality characteristics.
  • Innovate and Coordinate: Lead the charge in improving control plans using the occurrence and release (O&R) methodology, and conduct reverse PFMEA (RFMEA) activities on the floor.
  • Boost Performance: Support and drive kaizen activities to enhance First Time Quality (FTQ) performances.
  • Lead and Inspire: Guide the team to eliminate external firewall activities by enhancing plant QA gate performances.
  • Implement Error Proofing: Introduce and implement error-proofing measures and poka-yokes focused on reducing scrap.
  • Prevent and Protect: Develop proactive systems to identify and mitigate potential quality risks and issues before they arise.
  • Integrate and Innovate: Seamlessly integrate the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Quality Control pillar with a strong emphasis on preventive and proactive approaches.
  • Develop Robust Systems: Create and refine preventive QA matrices and networks to ensure consistent quality assurance across the board.

Qualifications:

IDEALLY - This Individual will have experience in 1 of these 3 areas:

Exterior Lighting

Plastic Injection Molding

or Automotive Assembly

  • Educational Background: Engineering degree preferred (Mechanical, Aerospace, Production).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a Quality department within the automotive or aerospace industry.
  • Certifications: ISO TS 16949 internal auditor certification is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP systems and problem-solving.
  • Expertise: Experience with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • First Time Quality (FTQ): Strive for excellence in first-time quality performance.
  • Internal PPM: Reduce internal parts per million defects.
  • O&R Methodology: Improve occurrence and release metrics.
  • Performance Metrics: Enhance 1st piece performance and quality gate effectiveness.
  • Preventive QA: Increase the percentage of items closed within the preventive QA matrix.
