Summary

The role requires comprehensive knowledge of professional standards and precedents in the relevant field. Assignments are provided as objectives, with specific goals established to achieve these objectives. The role involves recommending and establishing policy changes, as well as developing or assisting in the creation of department budgets and goals. Making erroneous decisions or failing to meet goals can lead to increased costs, additional personnel needs, and significant delays in overall schedules.

The position involves supervising directly or through subordinate supervisors, coordinating the activities of a section or department, and being responsible for results in terms of costs, methods, and employee performance. Responsibilities include making hiring and firing decisions, reviewing employee performance, recommending compensation, providing coaching for improved performance, and administering discipline as necessary. The role also gives final approval for salary and performance recommendations for subordinate managers and supervisors.

Building cross-functional relationships is essential, requiring persuasive skills, negotiation, and considerable tact to gain support. The role involves direct interaction with subordinates and peer groups and interfacing with senior managers on issues related to the area of expertise. Maintaining positive relationships with key customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders is crucial, as they significantly impact the organization's success.

Description
  • Responsible for overseeing all procurement activities related to purchasing equipment and subcontractors to support assigned projects, ensuring alignment with company policies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the procurement of materials and services.
  • Review, compare, and evaluate supplier proposals against historical and market pricing to determine cost-competitive options and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Lead commercial negotiations for supply agreements, RFIs, project-specific orders, and change orders with key suppliers, adhering to company policies and guidelines.
  • Provide insights and forecasts on material and logistics prices for future project estimates.
  • Manage the procurement of engineered equipment and materials in accordance with project requirements.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for suppliers during the sourcing process and work effectively with Development, Valuation and Analytics, Project Finance, Asset Management, Legal, and Implementation teams as necessary.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, construction management, economics, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and a minimum of 3 years of work experience. A graduate degree is preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in project management, supply chain, and/or construction projects, preferably within the energy industry. Experience in US power finance, trading, or origination is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience interacting with vendors and service providers.
  • Strong understanding of financials, as well as excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
  • Highly organized with the capability to manage competing tasks effectively.
  • Experience in solar or storage development or procurement is preferred.

Skills/Knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of the power and renewable energy market dynamics is required.
  • Preferred experience in wind, solar, and battery sectors within US competitive wholesale electricity markets and vertically integrated markets.
  • Must be able to stay current with evolving technologies, regulations, and trends impacting the adoption of renewable energy and the clean energy transition.
  • A commercial mindset, along with strong prioritization, communication, and organizational skills, is essential.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, make decisions, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tasks and circumstances in a dynamic environment.
