Summary:
The Director of Operations leads all resources and activities related to the production of trailers. Production areas include cutting, welding, painting, assembly, and shipping/receiving. Functional areas include Operations, Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Production Efficiency and Maintenance. This individual will work in partnership with the President and other members of the leadership team to redefine how this business operates and will help architect the growth plan going forward. This will entail assessing current capabilities in operations management, quality, safety, service and cost and crafting a strategy to take the business to the next level. Ultimately the goal is to positively impact the overall culture of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Define current capabilities, processes and systems and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization to help develop a transformational growth strategy.
Ensure all products are manufactured according to specifications and safety and quality standards in most efficient manner
Meet or exceed budgets as well as other key financial manufacturing performance goals; Ability to analyze P&L and balance sheet to achieve financial objectives
Drive continuous improvement activities and lead Lean transformation initiatives
Execute operations plan to assure on-time completion of production orders
Establish and administer KPIs to ensure customer and company business needs are consistently achieved and provide timely information to executive management team to drive effective business strategies
Build a world class team of operational leaders. Develop direct staff performance goals and objectives aligned with organizational goals

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
At least ten years' operations management experience in a discrete manufacturing environment, strong track record of success and an action orientation.
Pedigree Lean training and enterprise-wide transformation experience. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Toyota Production System methodologies such as: Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, A3 Development and Management, TPM, SMED, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving, Built In Quality, Just In Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Hoshin Kanri (SD, X Matrix), and Lean ROI
Outstanding leadership. Ability to communicate a compelling strategic vision for the operations team across the organization and demonstrate in a hands-on way how to get material results and positively impact culture.
Excellent analytical skills. Ability to quickly analyze, interpret and recommend solutions to key stakeholders and to visualize new business processes across process boundaries.
Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate team and others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization.
