Valta is currently seeking an experienced Vice President of C&I Rooftop Construction to provide construction leadership for a vertically integrated renewable energy organization. Overview:

The Vice President of C&I Rooftop Construction will oversee all construction activities for our solar projects across California. This role involves managing a combination of self-performing construction teams and external contractors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction management, be OSHA certified, and possess a strong ability to manage P&L, budgets and schedules for projects from 500kw - 5,000kW. The Vice President of C&I Rooftop Construction will report directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Oversee all phases of C&I rooftop construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Ensure smooth handoff of completed, retained projects to Asset Management team.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, engage and develop a diverse team of construction professionals, including self-performing teams and contractors. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Profit & Loss Management: Oversee the incoming cash and outgoing cashflow to maintain the health of the net operating profit for the business. Liaise with the Finance department as needed to ensure necessary reporting is available.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for C&I rooftop solar projects, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all construction activities comply with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements. Implement and maintain safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the company's strategic goals and objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to the executive team regarding construction operations and improvements.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Negotiate contracts and manage performance to ensure high-quality and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular reports on project status, budget performance, safety, and other key metrics to the executive team and stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and sustainability.
  • Procurement & Inventory Management: Oversee sourcing and procurement of materials. Ensure systems are in place for proper inventory management to meet project demands.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing C&I rooftop projects. Keen understanding of California Labor Laws, prevailing wage and other requirements to meet the Inflation Reduction Act ("IRA") requirements.
  • Certifications: OSHA certification required. PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.

Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in construction management software and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing large budgets.

Working Conditions:
  • This position requires travel to project sites across California.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project needs outside of regular business hours.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $210K-250K annually. In addition to base salary, this role participates in a competitive project-based bonus program.
