Job Description:

Juniper is an innovative lighting technology, design, and manufacturing company seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in Southington, CT. In this position, you will play a key role in producing Juniper's unique, innovative lighting solutions.

As the Mechanical Engineer, you are responsible for executing various tasks that require an extensive hands-on approach to developing new and existing products. You will work with electrical engineers, industrial designers, and the operations team to understand the product and execute its mechanical goals and requirements. You will be in charge of the product prototyping and testing stage, assembling components, performing soldering operations, testing parts on jigs, preparing installation guidelines, and constructing jigs for assembly/soldering of components.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working on multiple projects simultaneously in short sprints.
  • Manage tasks, timelines, and documentation of assigned projects in Microsoft Teams and Project.
  • Production of preliminary mechanical models while working closely with Electrical Engineers, Industrial Design teams, and the Machining Department.
  • Update mechanical and assembly drawings after testing and communicate them to the engineering team.
  • Use Onshape to create parts and drawings, access existing part/assembly drawings, and add revisions where necessary.
  • Assist in properly procuring samples and overseeing the production of any in-house components specifically related to developing new or existing products.
  • Use 3D printing tools available at Juniper to ensure efficient production of prototypes.
  • Manage alpha and beta prototypes using results to modify engineering models.
  • Work with Industrial Engineering in the design and manufacture stage to ensure products are engineered to meet efficient production metrics.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • At least three years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and manufacturing in the product industry.
  • Excellent machining, metal fabrication, stamping, welding, and finishing knowledge.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in creating assembly and soldering jigs.
  • Extensive experience working with rapid prototype design and building for proof of concept, usability testing, and electromechanical design.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
