This position is located in the Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) Division of the Transportation
Product Line within Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Mid-Atlantic (NAVFAC MIDLANT).

DUTIES
You will serve as the following:
- Senior Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) Engineer within the applicable Regional Program
Office reporting to the applicable Regional WHE Program Manager;
- Senior Project Manager for significant multi-discipline projects, with complete responsibility
for all technical aspects of the projects. He/she prepares or directs the preparation of
unique original concepts and preliminary and final design documents with regard to Navy
crane user functions, etc...
You will ensure proper integration of assignment with other Navy crane engineers responsible for the adequacy of related Crane Reliability, Improvement, and Safety Program (CRISP) features;
You will Consults with A&E firms and has final approval authority for specification adequacy, conformance with criteria, economy of specifications, etc.;
You will analyze site requirements to develop facilities-related project plans.
You will manage configuration of regional cranes to ensure compliance with NAVCRANECENINST 11450.2, NAVFAC P-307, and the NAVSEA Crane Quality Manual.
You will review design/manufacturing submittals developed by crane design and manufacturing firms for conformance to criteria and good engineering practices;
You will act as a Command representative on technological and standards-making panels.
You will be assigned as a member of the crane program internal review team, which travels to MIDLANT activities to determine if their crane programs are in compliance with applicable requirements for engineering organizations
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a mastery of, and skill in applying, advanced engineering concepts,
principles, practices, standards, and methods associated with the operation, maintenance, and
certification of weight handling equipment (WHE). Incumbent must possess a Professional knowledge of engineering principals.
The incumbent must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil
(Structural) Engineering from a 4 year college or university accredited by ABET (Accreditation
Board for Engineering and Technology). A Postgraduate degree in an engineering
or science discipline is highly desirable.
You are required to possess a current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your current PE license with your email application to be considered for this position
1) Specialized knowledge of weight handling equipment (WHE) electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering, its operating conditions, and design approaches associated with the safe design of WHE sufficient to provide expert advice on difficult and complex work assignments and to work out effective compromises between conflicting requirements.
2) Requires a knowledge of DoD and NAVFAC contracting methods, procedures, and practices;
3) Requires knowledge of project and program management techniques to ensure proper
coordination, planning, budgeting and execution of WHE projects;
4) Managing projects in a timely manner to accomplish objectives within resource constraints;
5) Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and manufactures manuals and schematic instructions;
6) Independently planning, organizing, and scheduling work to meet deadlines;
7) Facilitating interaction and communication between the client and other engineering team members; and
8) Making oral and written technical reports and presentations to management in a clear, concise, and effective manner
