A truly exciting opportunity for a talented Electrical Engineering Manager to join Servomex, the global expert in gas analysis and part of the FTSE 250 Spectris Group on the London Stock Exchange. Based out of our US Technical Center (USTC) in Woburn, MA, the successful candidate in this critical role will manage a group of Electrical and Software Engineers; ensuring all team activities are managed, reported and delivered to the required targets.

The Electrical Engineering Manager will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the team, providing oversight to ensure project deliverables are completed to standards and within established deadlines. They will assist with technology and project planning, group hiring and development, design resource allocation, and implementation of engineering tools and policies. This role will serve as a technical contributor as well, delivering digital and analog circuit design for new product introduction (NPI) and existing products.

About the Opportunity:

  • Manage, support and develop a team of electrical and embedded software engineers, overseeing quality and timeliness of assigned work activities.
  • Develop and review engineering designs ensuring quality requirements are achieved and upheld by the team, and customer expectations are met.
  • Provide project investigation and recommend necessary actions to achieve project deliverables to company standards and within established timelines.
  • Provide technical support and instruction to the design engineering team members and Project Engineering team members on how to design systems, create drawings and meet project goals using standards, specifications, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Oversee development and support of embedded software for new and legacy analytical products.
  • Design and deliver PCBA and system test fixtures, programs, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the group and / or company to identify common problems and solutions.
  • Align the Electrical & Software Engineering team with counterparts across sites on engineering tools, drawing standards and component selection.

About Your Talent:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering.
  • Proven management / leadership experience, ideally in a cross-functional electrical and software team.
  • Experience setting up schematics and drawings for high quality manufacturing and testing.
  • Regulatory agency and certification experience (UL, CSA, CE, ROHS, IEC).
  • Experience implementing business systems and tools related to QMS, PLM / PDM, Continuous Improvement, data collection and evaluation, etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Demonstrated electrical and software/communications troubleshooting expertise.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Experience with high sensitivity gas analysis or analytical laboratory equipment will be advantageous.
  • Experience using Altium design software is desirable.
  • Familiarity with design for Hazardous Area IEC 60079 and General Environmental Testing such as IEC60068 or MIL-STD 810 is preferred.
  • Experience writing LabVIEW programs is desirable.
