About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the CTO Observability & Logging team. These products play a major role in accelerating the firm's modernization and move to cloud.

In this role the candidate will play a critical delivery role focused on Cloud (public/private/hybrid) Observability driving one of Logging's area products: Data, Forwarding and Consumption. This role is looking for a candidate that can drive the technical execution and delivery of the strategic enterprise logging product and its integration with the rest of the Observability ecosystem for Cloud based apps products. As part of this role, the candidate will need to design and implement end to end API solutions to enable the multiple domains of Logging, such as Capture, Transformation, Transport, Consumption and Data management. This role requires a mix of Software & Infrastructure engineering skills and will work closely with Product in order to support the User Journeys and the delivery method in line with our Agile methodology.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact.
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience
  • 3+ years with Object Oriented Programming Languages: Java preferred, Python as a second choice
  • 3+ years with Infrastructure as Code: Ansible and Terraform preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Public Cloud development. Preferred experience with Azure and GCP
  • Experience with Cloud and Observability technologies. E.g. Google Cloud Logging, Grafana, Prometheus
  • Experience with API first & Cloud based strategies
  • Proven record of delivery across organizational lines - ability to influence outcomes at senior levels
  • Experience with strategic planning and execution within a technology function
Expectations
  • This position is not available for fully remote work and carries an in-office expectation of 3 days a week in a hybrid capacity.
