Director, Business Development Finance


About The Role


The Director will report to the Senior Director of Business Development Finance and lead financial models, critical analyses, and diligence activities to advise Zoetis senior leaders and execute on key strategic and capital allocation decision efforts. Specifically, the candidate will own, on a project-by-project basis, the financial evaluation and execution of external business development activities, including acquisitions, licenses, commercial arrangements, minority investments, divestments, and associated diligence activities to the extent necessary.


What you will do:


- Advise on the appropriate offering price, deal structuring, and other various negotiating principles involving financial terms based on developed financial analyses


- Lead finance diligence activities ranging from accounting due diligence, tax structuring, funding mechanics, etc.


- Function as a liaison between Zoetis Business Development and the finance organization ensuring adequate updates and alignment on various finance, tax, treasury, insurance, and integration considerations


- Creating the dealbook used by internal stakeholders for future budgeting purposes once the deal is completed


- Drive process improvement within the BD Finance team to help automate front-end work of modeling and various recurring meetings with BD Finance representation


The tactical and technical skillsets being sought include ability to build and maintain complex valuation models, strong financial acumen with general understanding of accounting principles, experience evaluating a range of business models and identifying key areas of risk, and supporting financial due diligence. The character traits being sought include intellectual curiosity, enjoyment seeing the team succeed over the individual, desire to join a multinational corporation with diverse sets of people and cultures, comfortability operating on a project-by-project basis with no set calendarized workflow, and ability to work cross-functionally while still being able to respectfully challenge others' thoughts and assumptions.


This role interacts on a weekly basis with the Business Development Leads (those managing the deal process), Legal, Technical Accounting, and Tax. On an ad-hoc basis the candidate will also interact with Commercial Operators (both species and market specific), relevant R&D Manufacturing, Tech & Digital experts, and the Zoetis executive team.


Experiences/Qualifications in Addition to Above


- Transaction-related (investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or consulting) background with 5 - 7 years of relevant experience required


- Experience leading due diligence processes and teams, whether internal or external, highly preferred


- Healthcare and Technology experience preferred; Animal Health experience not required but encouraged


- MBA, CFA, CPA equivalent qualifications preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a finance or accounting discipline necessary


- Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking, as well as great judgement


- Attention to detail and highly organized working style


- Ability to communicate financial theses across a range of mediums (PowerPoint, Excel, Meetings, etc.)


- Strong leadership and ability to interact with and influence senior level executives, outside consultants, investment bankers, potential partners, as well as all internal Zoetis stakeholders
