Work at the LaMaster Dairy Center. Responsible for care, feeding, and management of cattle, operation of farm equipment, and robotic milker. Work with research and teaching faculty to accomplish experiments and instruction. Completes other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Animal Management: Primarily responsible for feeding, care and management of cattle on farm. Includes feed mixing, deliver, and monitoring. Observing, reporting, and administering animal health and management protocols. Maintain sanitation of facilities.
40% - Essential - Equipment and Facilities Operation: Able to operate all farm equipment including tractors, trucks, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, feed wagon, hay grinder. Executes maintenance of farm equipment. Assist with operation of DeLaval robotic milking system. Coordinates fence repair, pasture renovation, and building maintenance. Coordinates lagoon operations for DHEC compliance.
10% - Essential - Research and Teaching: Assists with faculty to prepare animals and supplies for research and teaching activities. Assist research and teaching faculty with sample collection and instruction activities. Assist or conduct tours for classes, camps, and visitors in a professional manner.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: 1st Bachelor's Degree - Animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field. Work Experience: 1+ years - farm equipment and livestock experience.
