Overview
Gift of Hope is proud to serve as the federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that coordinates organ and tissue donation and provides compassionate service to families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana.


Since our inception in 1986, we have coordinated donations that have saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients, and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients. As one of 58 organ procurement organizations that make up the nation's organ donation system, we work with 183 hospitals in our donation service area.

Function as front desk receptionist in Itasca office to greet guests; receive and route all incoming telephone calls and faxes; sort and deliver mail; order food; provide administrative support for special projects as assigned

Compensation for this position is $18.04-$22.10 per hour
Responsibilities

Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
  • Greet and distribute visitor badges to guests and connect them to appropriate staff member/department; assist with digital sign-in as needed
  • Answer and route incoming phone calls; take messages and direct calls to appropriate staff member/department
  • Provide callers with information such as company address, fax number, website, driving directions and other related information
  • Receive, sort and deliver incoming mail to appropriate staff member/department
  • Prepare, post and send outgoing mail; ensure adequate funds are available in the postal machine
  • Accept deliveries and notify appropriate staff member/department
  • Keep reception area clean, safe and organized
  • Order meals for in-house and off-site meetings
  • Order flowers for company related matters as needed
  • Order business cards for new hires and as needed
  • Provide administrative support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned



Qualifications

Education and Training Required


The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent



Experience and Skills Required

  • 2 years' receptionist experience
  • Excellent phone etiquette
  • Ability to answer multi-line phone and route calls appropriately
  • Ability to develop broad understanding of the functioning of the organization
  • Basic skills in Word and Excel
  • Ability to enforce non-solicitation policy with external salespeople
  • Ability to assist others with empathy and compassion
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Highly dependable
