POSITION SUMMARY


This 2nd shift (3p-11p) hourly position is responsible for ensuring our customers receive a quality die cast product by maintaining furnace conditions, training and auditing the remelt processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Audit remelt technician daily checklist per requirements.

• Demonstrate knowledge of alloying the aluminum.

• Ability to perform all the goals, functions and responsibilities of a Remelt Operator.

• Train operators on the proper operations of bucket and forklifts.

• Maintain an adequate supply of alloys for casting operations.

• Maintain metal temperatures at the proper levels in the break down furnaces.

• Audit daily tasks of remelt operators and technicians.

• Restart gas furnaces when necessary.

• Audit cleaning of remelt furnaces.

• Audit proper de-gassing procedures.

• Audit stack furnace throughput.

• Audit that the remelt technician is properly completing work orders.

• Ability to build heat legs/ thermocouple.

• Audit proper cleaning tools.

• Ability to perform lockout tag out.

• Ability to perform start up and shut down procedures.

• Train remelt operators and remelt technicians how to clean furnaces.

• Work with materials lab to troubleshoot out of specification metal chemistry.

• Ability to work in extreme heat in direct proximity to hot furnaces and equipment.

• Ability to wear the required multiple layers of personal protective equipment.

• REQUIRED SKILLS



Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).


Certifications: Ability to obtain Gibbs issued powered industrial equipment license


Experience: 6 months remelt operator and/or remelt technician


Communication: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and others team members.


Math: Ability to use basic math, adding, subtraction, and multiply and divide.


Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Microsoft Office and Manufacturing software.
