Your Role:



As a Scientist/Engineer II within Science and Lab Solutions (SLS)-Chemistry R&D Instrument Engineering team, you play a pivotal role in the design, development, and optimization of lab devices and instrumentation, particularly in flow chemistry application ensuring systems are robust, precise, and scalable. You will utilize your deep understanding of both the design and operational aspects of chemical instrumentation, with a strong emphasis on innovation, optimization, and troubleshooting.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead, design and develop laboratory devices and instrumentations

  • Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting and maintenance on existing instrumentation to prevent downtime and enhance system performance

  • Stay at the forefront of instrument technology, applying the latest advancements in engineering and analytical techniques

  • Document all experimental and engineering protocols and results meticulously; prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Implement and enhance process analytical technology (PAT) strategies in flow chemistry setups, ensuring optimal data acquisition and real-time quality control

  • Keep abreast of latest trends and technologies in flow chemistry, PAT, and optimization algorithms, applying this knowledge to drive innovation within the team



This role can be based either in Burlington, MA or Milwaukee, WI



Who You Are:




Minimum Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other Engineering or Science field with 3+ years of experience in instrument engineering and/or flow chemistry




Preferred Qualifications:



  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in instrument engineering, with a significant portion dedicated to the development and optimization of flow chemistry systems

  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practices applicable to the design and operation of chemical processing equipment

  • Proficiency in coding for hardware interface, process control, and data analysis, with demonstrated experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar

  • Strong analytical skills, with extensive experience in using and maintaining analytical and PAT tools

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong capacity for innovative thinking in technical design and troubleshooting challenges

  • Knowledge in device and instrument service concept design and roll-out to service organizations
