Supports Lift Operations Manager and Assistant Manager in overseeing all aspects of the Lift Operations Department and Staff for Taos Ski Valley. Assists the Lift Operations Management Team in department plans, directions, and coordination by performing the following duties personally or through Foreman, Leads, Lift Operators, and Lift Attendants.

Assists in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.
Responsible for maintaining an enthusiastic and professional work environment consistent with the policies of Taos Ski Valley, Inc. resulting in high employee morale and motivation and guest satisfaction in an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
Responsible for helping oversee winter lift operations.
Consistently seeks out new opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and innovation.
Responsible for aiding manager(s) with hiring, training, scheduling, disciplining, rewarding, and terminating staff. Provide daily supervision, delegation, and motivation of lift operators, leads, and foreman positions. Ensure staff follow all dept procedures while providing a high level of service and work ethic.
Assist in assuring the operation of the lifts in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the United States Forest Service, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), TSV Liability Insurance policy, and company policies and procedures.
Help to ensure all administrative functions of the department are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
Helps conduct performance reviews of staff and file personnel paperwork.
Review Lift Operations labor budget and daily scheduling. Help manage the department in a way that is financially responsible and diligent. Identify lift ops purchase needs and report to management.
Provides input, and helps cascade information, about budgets, business plans, and long/short-term planning for Lift Operations Department.
Helps managers oversee all aspects of Lift Op Training and Orientation.
Monitor lift area set-up, signage, and snow work on a regular basis and make changes when needed. Coordinate with managers and other departments regarding lift area needs.
Ensures that daily lift inspections, safety checks, and logs are properly completed.
Helps coordinate snow mornings with grooming, patrol, and lift maintenance.
Coordinate with lift maintenance to ensure proper care and operation of lifts.
Have a complete working knowledge of the Ski Safety Act and its application to our ski mountain.
Work closely with all departments and become an active resource for guest and employee safety issues.
Helps provide and organize safety training for the department.
Occasionally represent the department at all companywide meetings.
Create a team culture that provides a wonderful guest experience.
Supervises approximately 4 foremen, 25 leads, and 50+ employees in Lift Operations.
Aids in the facilitation of daily lift operations morning meetings, orientations, training, etc.
Materials and equipment directly used include Skis, snowboards, shovels, hand tools, power tools, snowmobiles, snowblowers, road vehicles, climbing gear, and lift evacuation gear.
Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
Reliable attendance on all early snow mornings when applicable (between 1 to 3 hours early).
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelors' degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience. and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in instructing, leading, or supervising employees.
Previous Lift Operations experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of our organization. Ability to speak clearly over the radio and on phones.
Math Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer Internet software, Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office Suite Word Processing software.
Well-organized record-keeping skills.
Ability to work both drive and return lift stations.
Intermediate skier/rider-level skier.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Working knowledge of the Skier Safety Act and ANSI Guidelines.
Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.
