Your Role: Manager- Maintenance

This Manager has the responsibility to provide leadership and oversite for Maintenance Team and reliability support at Clinton Laboratories. This support includes the maintenance supervisors and technicians with the purpose of being the primary liaison between maintenance, operations, engineering, capital projects and contractors. Duties will include safety improvement, reliability initiatives, training improvements, reporting of metrics, work order management, and scheduling/ manufacturing work systems improvement. Additionally, the Manager partners with Reliability to influence and implement improvements across multiple functional disciplines to ensure that the site achieves all business plan objectives and remains compliant with all regulatory requirements. 

Your Responsibilities:  


  • HSE-The Manager is responsible for: a) improving safety culture, awareness, and accountability within the maintenance organization, b) ensuring safety, environmental impact and process safety is an integral part of all engineering tasks, c) driving safe behaviors and timely reporting of incidents and near misses, d) engaging in proactively reducing risks, and e) ensuring that employees are taking actions to avoid personal injury to themselves and others.

  • Developing People- The Manager is responsible for: a) ensuring that everyone in the maintenance department has a performance management plan and a development plan that aligns with individual objectives, department/functional goals, and plant site initiatives, b) documenting all aspects of performance for the employees in the department including interim reviews, final reviews, compensations decisions, disciplinary actions, training, compliance, etc., c) providing technical coaching, professional mentoring and career counselling, d)  working with Human Resources to resolve personnel issues, e) preparing succession management plans for key positions identified in their department.

  • Manage the Business-The Manager is responsible for: a) managing departmental activities and aligning resources to meet short-term and long-term business needs, b) ensuring business processes are in place to achieve the day-to-day team responsibilities and performance management of headcount, overtime, and departmental expenses.

  • Improve the Business- The manager will: a) interact regularly with Reliability Team and other process team members to identify and replicate best practices and to align activities with department initiatives, standards, and policies, b) meet key objectives aimed at improving the value derived from maintenance and reliability efforts, c) own PM compliance and scheduling metrics d) transform the precision maintenance discipline at Clinton through utilization of reliability pillars, process knowledge and understanding, root cause analysis, mentoring, and day to day engagement, e) developing and mentoring maintenance supervisors and B4’s in the improvement efforts including tracking system and deliverables, f) impact site expenses (M&R spend), training programs and precision practices, knowledge retention (mechanical and electrical) and deviation root cause investigations in a positive manner, g) support and encourage utilization of automated systems in new equipment/process delivery and existing processes.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications): 

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience: 5-10 years' experience in Maintenance.


  • Proven experience leading teams focused on maintenance support, reliability improvements and craft skills

  • Demonstrated ability to influence individuals and teams

  • Knowledge of GMP manufacturing and PM compliance

  • Knowledge and experience with SAP system and training required

  • Extensive knowledge of both Electrical and Instrumentation and Mechanical disciplines

  • Knowledge of manufacturing Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards

  • Strong engineering fundamentals

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • High degree of competence regarding communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications): 


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical/electrical technical degree, or ourneyman

  • Precision maintenance experience (Electrical or Mechanical)

  • Experience with reliability elements (CMRP background)

  • Knowledge of Elanco Quality and Engineering Standards

Additional Information:  


  • Monday thru Friday, 8 hours/day. Travel to other sites may be required.
