Responsible for the daily operation of the warehouse, including receiving and recording all incoming and outgoing shipments from the Government Center including the District Attorney’s office.  Clerical and administrative tasks related to procurement, requisitioning, inventory, distribution of janitorial supplies, equipment, and safety supplies and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES.

  • Receive all shipments from UPS, Federal Express, Air Freight, motor cargo and freight trucks.

  • Log and tag incoming shipments into the inventory logbook and prepare items for distribution.

  • Record asset identification numbers on form FA01 for tracking and description purposes.

  • Properly tag equipment and distinguish whether the item is a sensitive or fixed asset.  

  • Coordinate delivery to various County departments and the District Attorney’s office.

  • Loads and unloads equipment, materials, and supplies by hand or with a 2-wheel handcart, pushcart dolly, pallet jack, or forklift when required.

  • Order janitorial supplies and safety equipment for Warehouse stock inventory.

  • Contact vendors for quotes and item pricing in accordance with awarded bid pricing.

  • Utilize the database for inventory control.  

  • Perform inventory counts; receive supply orders and stock items on shelves and other supply rooms.  

  • Prepare invoices for accounts payable.

  • Pull stock for requisition orders and process paperwork for invoicing in the database system.

  • Maintain accurate Material Safety Data Sheet records on all chemicals coming in and out of warehouse inventory; distribute them to departments as supplies are delivered. 

  • Responsible for storing all materials in a proper manner.  

  • Maintain the inventory of janitorial supplies in the County inventory system. 

  • Assist departments with returns.

  • Assist departments with assembly of items.  

  • Record disposal forms for obsolete, broken or transferred equipment.  

  • Coordinate the pickup of obsolete items or take items to the recycling warehouse.  

  • Assists departments with the disposal of large items following established protocol.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES. Other duties may be assigned. 



QUALIFICATIONS.

A.  Education.  High School diploma or GED required.

B.  Experience.  Four (4) years of related experience in a warehouse environment in product identification, handling, and storage procedures, planning, and tracking receivables and deliverables.  

C.  Education/Experience substitution.  In accordance with County policy.

D.  Licenses/Certifications.  Valid driver’s license.  Must maintain a satisfactory driving record in   accordance with County policy.  Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.

E.  Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.).       Background and driver's license check.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

Must have knowledge of:

  • Inventory maintenance practices for a wide variety of property. 

  • Applicable acquisition, transfer, and destruction of equipment laws. 

  • Tagging assets and recording of information. 

  • Government purchasing policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Requirements for Material Safety Data Sheets. 

  • Strict security and administrative controls for classification, storage of items, and recordkeeping procedures. 

 

Must have the ability to: 

  • Identify and reconcile inventory related discrepancies.

  • Follow the legal chain-of-custody and property disposal procedures.

  • Handle sensitive and confidential matters.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.   

 

Must have skills to: 

  • Operate a folk lift and pallet jack.

  • Accurately and legibly post and maintain inventory records and documents.  

  • Operate a computer, applicable software, and material handling equipment. 

  • Problem solve with minimal direction and oversight.

Compensation Range

$18.82 - $30.08
